The horse is the seventh animal in the Chinese lunar calendar, and is renowned for its loyalty, diligence and free spirit. Those born in the Year of the Horse are thought to be energetic, intelligent and often physically strong, and they like to live in quiet, peaceful environments. In 2014, the Year of the Horse is expected to bring a blend of optimism, growth, fulfillment, prosperity and positive developments.

In conjunction with the Lunar Year of the Horse, Pos Malaysia Berhad launched special stamps and a horse-themed philatelic collection. Its stamps and philately unit head Yasmin Ramli said the collection offered four types of design through its stamps, miniature sheets and first-day cover envelopes. The stamps produced are from original paintings depicting Polo Sport, Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) Mounted Unit, Mounted Ceremonial Squadron and the Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) Mounted Unit.
