The 10 Asean member nations have also issued the special stamps featuring the same design on the same day.
JOINT ISSUE STAMP within the ten ASEAN member countries (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam) on August 8,2015. Celebrate the 48th founding anniversary of ASEAN.
Each ASEAN country will issue the stamp with the country’s name and currency denomination as well as the matching postmark design in their respective nations. Both stamp and postmark designs came from Vietnam, which were selected at the ASEAN Stamp Design Contest held in Bangkok in February this year.

ASEAN CELEBRATES 48th ANNIVERSARY WITH SPECIAL JOINT ISSUE STAMPS
KUALA LUMPUR, Saturday – In conjunction with ASEAN Day, Pos Malaysia Berhad is releasing a special joint issue of ASEAN Community commemorative stamps.
The stamps portray a common design to reflect the “oneness” of the community.
10 ASEAN member nations will be issuing the special stamps featuring the same design on the same day.
The winning stamp design came from Vietnam Post, symbolising unity and equality.
Together with first day covers, the stamps will be issued on 8August 2015, which is the 48thanniversary of ASEAN. However, nationwide sales will only commence on Monday, 10 August 2015.
This special issue is released to commemorate the inception of the ASEAN Community in 2015 and to strengthen and build the ASEAN spirit.
“With the theme ‘One Vision, One Identity, One Community’ the stamp is produced with a view to promote postcard writing at the regional level. This will helps to foster closer relations and cooperation among the member nations.” said Azlan Shahrim, Covering Group Chief Executive Officer of Pos Malaysia.
The design features the concept of ASEAN Member States’ flags, which are unified to form a 5 petalled flower. The pigeon in the background symbolizes peace that signifies the aspiration of the region to co-exist in a peaceful and harmonious manner.
A handshake below the flags portray friendship and the golden ears of rice refer to basic agriculture, the primary way of life in ASEAN countries.
“The stamp is also a reminder for all ASEAN member nations to unite and enhance cooperation from all economic, political, social and cultural aspects for the common good of the region,” added Azlan.
In Malaysia, a total of 250,000 stamps will be sold at RM0.50 each, with 35,000 first day covers which is also priced at RM0.50 sen each.
For the record, Pos Malaysia has also issued special stamps and philatelic collections in honour of Malaysia’s chairmanship of ASEAN and its establishment on 27January 2015.
“As the chairman of ASEANPOST, a group of postal service providers in the ASEAN region beginning this year and lasting another two years, Pos Malaysia is honoured to issue joint stamps for ASEAN Day with the aspiration to expand its networking services in the region,” said Azlan.

The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) will issue the joint ASEAN Community special stamps simultaneously with other countries in the region on August 08, to welcome the “ASEAN Economic Community”.
“The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) welcomes the joint issuance of the ASEAN community special stamps as our way of promoting unity and prosperity, speaking with one voice to the rest of the world”, Postmaster General Josie Dela Cruz said.
The entry from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam recently won the first prize for both categories in ASEAN Stamp Design Contest participated in by member countries such as Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
The stamp winner was awarded US$ 1,000 while the postmark winner received US$ 500. Their designs will be produced as the stamp and postmark for all the ASEAN countries to reflect the unity of the ASEAN Community according to the motto of the ASEAN, “One Vision, One Identity, One Community”.
The stamp will be officially issued on August 8, 2015 in each member state to celebrate the 48th anniversary of ASEAN (The Association of South East Asian Nations).
PHLPost will host the launching of the Joint Stamp Issue of the ASEAN Community in cooperation with the Department of Foreign Affairs, and the ASEAN Stamp Exhibition on August 18, 2015, to be held at the Atrium Event Area of SM Aura, Taguig City.
The winning postage stamps and postmark designs convey the idea of ASEAN’s unity will be produced as a joint issue stamp and postmark among the ASEAN countries.
Stamp composition and denomination will depend on each postal regulation.
The colorful special commemorative stamps will be sold in the Philippines at P13.00 each and only 101,000 copies were printed by Amstar Company, Inc. measuring 30X30mm.
HO CHI MINH CITY, March 26 (Xinhua) — The stamp and postmark designed by Vietnamese artists will be produced as a joint issue stamp within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on Aug. 8, 2015 to celebrate the association’s 48th founding anniversary and the formation of the ASEAN Economic Community by Dec. 31, 2015.
